Thai Basil – For Woks, Soups and Asian Dishes

Thai Basil (Ocimum basilicum) is a decorative and versatile basil variety valued for both its appearance and flavour. Its narrow leaves, red stems and purple-toned flowers make it an attractive addition to herb gardens, pots, border plantings and windowsills.

The flavour of Thai basil combines refined notes of liquorice and anise with a light peppery touch. It is especially well suited for Asian dishes such as stir-fries, soups and other aromatic meals.

The seeds can be sown indoors all year round. For outdoor growing, sow indoors from March to July and move the seedlings outside only when the temperature stays consistently above 20 °C.
